Education and the Internet

I think the Internet is the best thing to happen to education in a long time. Without it i wouldn't be taking this class right now. It gives people like myself with a lot of obligations outside of school the opportunity to take classes online so they can do the work on there own schedule; whether its three o clock in the morning or four o clock in the afternoon. The Internet is also a great place to do research for projects and it doesn't require you to leave your house. The net also helps link classes from different locations to the same teacher in real time using video conferencing. This helps the schools offer more classes and as a bonus the school only has to pay the labor of one teacher instead of three or four. Over the next five years its hard for me to say what will happen with education and the internet. You can already take classes and earn degrees online; email work to your teachers, take quizzes in the comfort of your own living room how much more can really be done. The only thing is to do is to improve on what already there. I personally think everyone in college should be able to have high speed internet installed in there home no matter were they live. With dial up you do more waiting than anything else.

Do Schools Kill Creativity

I personally cant say that schools kill creativity, but I don't think today's school systems help anybody be creative. It is not to often in public schools a student is asked to think outside the box. Everyone is required to take math, english, and history classes to a preset level to graduate. Not everyone is good at these three basic subjects. It is ok to assume that those people are good at something else in life. Like the story Sir Kin told of the little girl in the thirties who did poorly in school but turned out to be a great dancer who went on to choreograph the Broadway play Cats. There is something out there for everybody they just have to have the opportunity to find it
